When you purchase tea that has been bagged individually, most of it is ground into a powder and the bag obscures the quality of the plant material. With loose leaf, you can use your senses to tell if the plants are of high quality. Does the tea still look colorful or is the color washed out? Inhale. Do you smell a fresh and vital aroma? Your senses will tell you what you need to know.

Tea bags are not all created equal. Unfortunately, some of those beautiful, shapely tea bags out there contain microplastics. Every time you brew that lovely cuppa with “silken” or “mesh” tea bags, billions of microplastic particles are steeping into your brew. No thank you. With loose leaf you choose your brewing vessel and control the strength of the brew according to your taste.
LESS WASTE
Individual tea bags create an additional layer of waste. Even if the bag is compostable, that’s additional packaging that had to be manufactured, transported, and ultimately discarded to (hopefully) biodegrade. Loose leaf tea cuts out the middle process - you can put it directly into your compost bin. AND, Tea for Tabitha packaging is entirely 100% certified compostable, label and all!
